About the event

Log your miles HERE! or View Current Workplace Team Standings HERE

The 6th Annual Hit the Trail Challenge returns this May! For every mile logged on the Whitefish Trail during the month of May, $1 will be donated in support of the Whitefish Trail and our local protected lands. Participate as an individual for free or participate as a Workplace Team for a small fee. School groups, community groups, and non-profits can participate as Workplace Teams for free.

Health and wellness sponsors include Logan Health Whitefish, The IV Element, Parkside Credit Union, Glacier Distilling Company, BlueCross BlueShield of Montana, Vibrant Roots, Whitefish Convention and Visitors Bureau, and The Wave Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Miles can be logged with an online form, by joining the Hit the Trail Challenge Strava Club, or by paper log sheet. Awards and raffle prizes will be given to participants who hit certain targets throughout the month.

Last year 600+ individuals participated, logging a total of 31,370 miles! Join us and challenge yourself, your friends and family, or compete as an HOA or workplace team.

Throughout the month, workplaces compete as teams to tally the most miles on the Whitefish Trail. Last year we had 14 Workplace Teams from local business and non-profits, and the Muldown Teachers team took home Shelldon, the Workplace Team Trophy. Other past winners include Healthy Living Coop in 2019, Competitive Timing in 2020, the Wave in 2021, Heartstone Advisors in 2022. Workplace Teams are a great way to build team spirit and encourage employees and employee family members to be active on the Whitefish Trail. We also welcome HOAs as teams, so mobilize your neighbors and sign up!

The Whitefish Trail runs through a mix of state, federal, and private lands. These cooperative partners seek to preserve public access, healthy forests, wildlife habitat and water quality on these open lands.
